Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, popularly known as Amerado, is one of Ghana’s most exciting voices in rap music today. Born on Valentine’s Day and raised in Ejisu, Kumasi, Amerado has become a household name, thanks to his clever wordplay, sharp storytelling, and passion for his culture. With a stage name that means "Governor," Amerado truly commands attention with every verse. He first gained recognition in 2015 after placing third in the Solid FM Freestyle Show, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Amerado's rise to fame wasn't just about freestyles. He later caught the spotlight again with his iconic role in “Yeete Nsem,” Ghana’s first-ever rap news series, a creative blend of music and current affairs that gained him nationwide love. Amerado’s consistency and creativity have earned him collaborations with heavyweights like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Black Sherif

Over the years, Amerado has bagged major achievements. His second EP Patience topped major platforms like Mdundo and YouTube, and even won Best EP at the 2022 3Music Awards. He made history as the first Kumasi-based rapper to win Rapper of the Year at both the Ghana Music Awards and 3Music Awards. From freestyles in London on Tim Westwood TV to a full debut album Amerado continues to fly the flag high for Ghanaian hip hop.

Beyond the bars, Amerado is an artist with vision. Currently studying Political Science at the University of Ghana, he’s proof that talent and education can go hand in hand.
